Thimbleweed Park 2 is “not really a sequel, not really a prequel,” but it is in development and due out in 2028

Ron Gilbert has announced that Thimbleweed Park 2 has entered production, with an early 2028 release planned. The new adventure game revives the world of 2017’s Thimbleweed Park after Gilbert’s separate Zelda- and Diablo-inspired RPG was cancelled, and reunites several members of the original development team.

Gilbert says the game will be self-published with support from a private investor, and that Mark Ferrari, Gary Winnick, David Fox, Octavi Navarro and Robert Megone are returning. Its Steam page describes it as neither a straightforward sequel nor prequel, but as “more Thimbleweed Park”, with agents Ray and Reyes investigating a body at Edmund Mansion alongside returning characters including Ransome, Delores and Franklin.

  • Thimbleweed Park 2 is now in production.
  • It is due for release in early 2028.
  • Several original developers and characters will return.
