Explained simply
The Coffee Table is a Spanish horror film centred on Jesus and Maria, new parents whose relationship is already strained. After Jesus persuades Maria to buy an unusual glass-and-metal table, an accident involving their baby turns their home into the setting for a growing crisis.
Much of the story follows Jesus as he tries to conceal what happened while family members visit and pressure builds. The film’s tension comes largely from the characters’ situation and what viewers imagine, rather than sustained graphic violence.
