Squad, a large-scale tactical first-person shooter, is free to play on Steam until 28 September at 10 a.m. PT. The offer gives players a chance to experience its slower, communication-focused approach to warfare, which sits between mainstream multiplayer shooters and military simulations.

Matches support up to 100 players, with teams using infantry, vehicles, supplies and coordinated tactics across large maps. Players can organise through squads, build forward operating bases and rally points, and maintain logistics during battles; the full game is also half price during the promotion, reduced from $39.99 to $19.99.
