Spotify has widely rolled out a new feature called Mix, which lets Premium subscribers add DJ-style transitions between tracks in their own playlists, making listening feel like a professionally mixed set. Unlike live DJing, the tool doesn't work in real time; instead, it permanently sets transitions within user-created playlists, giving anyone the chance to craft a bespoke, shareable listening experience without needing DJ equipment or training.

Mix only works on playlists users have made themselves, not on Spotify-generated ones like Discover Weekly or Daily Mixes, unless these are first saved as standalone playlists. Once activated via the Mix button, Spotify automatically generates AI transitions between songs, which can be kept as-is or adjusted manually, with tools such as tempo (BPM) display, a new Smart Reorder feature, and Camelot Key notation helping users match compatible tracks for smoother blending.
