THQ Nordic has announced that existing owners of Epic Mickey: Rebrushed on Nintendo Switch will receive a free upgrade to the Switch 2 version. This is a positive move by the publisher, as it means players who purchased the game on the original console won't need to repurchase it for the new hardware.

The free upgrade will be available to both digital and physical owners through a patch downloadable on Switch 2. Players can obtain the upgrade by either inserting their Switch 1 cartridge into the Switch 2 or by downloading their existing digital version on the new console, then installing the upgrade patch. Epic Mickey: Rebrushed launches on Switch 2 on 6 October 2026 and will be sold physically as a Game Key Card rather than a traditional cartridge.
