Meta is introducing a new set of parental controls for Threads, called Parental Supervision, which will let parents and guardians oversee their teenagers' activity on the app. The update, rolling out from next week, is part of Meta's ongoing effort to make its platforms safer for younger users amid continued scrutiny of social media's impact on teenagers.

The new tools will let guardians see how much time a teen spends on Threads and set daily time limits and sleep mode hours. Guardians will also be able to restrict which tags a teen can view and adjust other privacy and content settings, supplementing existing default restrictions on all teen accounts. The feature will be accessible via Meta's Family Center hub and follows other recent measures, such as sharing teens' Meta AI chat topics with guardians and limiting repeated exposure to harmful content on Instagram.
