Threads is overhauling its in-app analytics with more details, except for link clicks

Engadget · 2 hours ago

Meta has overhauled the "insights" analytics panel on Threads, adding AI-generated summaries that give users more context about how their posts and profiles are performing. The update aims to demystify the platform's "for you" algorithm, which drives most views for the majority of users regardless of follower count, by explaining in plain language why a post did better or worse than usual.

The redesigned panel now shows Meta AI-written summaries alongside existing metrics such as views, viewers, likes and reposts, indicating whether these are "higher," "lower" or "typical" compared with recent activity. It also breaks down which "communities" and audience demographics are driving engagement, and highlights the best days and times to post. Notably absent, however, is any data on link clicks, a metric Meta had introduced only last year but has since quietly removed; a company spokesperson said Meta was merely "exploring" the feature, without explaining why it disappeared, fuelling suspicion that Threads continues to deprioritise content that sends users off the platform.
