Three new skyscrapers, including what would become the second-tallest residential tower in Britain, are set to be built in Vauxhall, south London, after Lambeth Council narrowly approved a £2billion, seven-building scheme on a currently undeveloped site. The plan, put forward by developers Bmor, Cedarstone Capital Partners and Cheyne Capital, was passed by the council's Planning Applications Committee by just four votes to three, despite objections including one from Historic England, which warned the towers would create "visual competition" with the Palace of Westminster and cause "incremental harm" to protected views. Council planning officers disagreed, concluding the proposals would not damage heritage assets, and construction is expected to begin in January 2027, with the development completed in phases.

The tallest of the three towers will stand at 69 storeys and 230.5 metres, containing 500 homes and making it the fifth-tallest building in Britain and the second-tallest block of flats after Canary Wharf's Landmark Pinnacle. A 61-storey tower will add 355 build-to-rent homes, while another provides 1,164 co-living units, and a 45-storey tower will house 699 student studios; the wider site also includes a 250-room hotel, offices, shops, a cinema, a public gym and swimming pool, and play areas. In total the scheme comprises 1,097 homes plus the co-living and student accommodation, with a quarter of homes designated "affordable" (122 for social rent, 120 at discount market rent), and the council received 32 objections against seven letters of support before granting approval.
