Three men jailed for Mayfair robbery of designer’s £170,000 watch
Three men have been jailed for robbing fashion designer Catalin Botezatu of a diamond-encrusted Richard Mille watch outside a Mayfair restaurant. The court heard that the planned attack left him terrified, particularly because he had undergone cancer surgery and had stents fitted in his heart.
Ali Eldahouzze, 22, and Abdel El Habchi, 30, restrained Botezatu while Younes Djoudi, 34, took the watch; a sharp implement caused an injury. Eldahouzze and El Habchi denied robbery but were convicted, while Djoudi admitted it. The three received combined sentences of more than 14 years. The watch was worth about £170,000 when given to Botezatu around 13 years ago and also had sentimental value.
