TikTok has unveiled a set of new features aimed at enriching how users interact within comment sections, including voice comments and simplified polls. The update, which the company frames as improving overall user experience, reflects TikTok's ongoing efforts to differentiate its comment section from those of rival platforms and keep users engaged beyond passive video viewing.

Voice comments will let users leave audio messages of up to 60 seconds under any video, rolling out to those aged 18 and over over the coming month. Creators can also now build comment polls with up to five options and track results directly beneath their posts, a feature already live globally after previous experiments with stickers and live-stream polls. Additionally, TikTok now allows uploads of "live photos" (which capture a moment of motion and sound) from camera rolls, and will soon let users post up to nine images in a single comment carousel, also within the next month. These join recent additions such as in-app travel booking and a location-based local feed.
