Tim Burton's 1999 gothic horror film "Sleepy Hollow" is now streaming for free on the ad-supported platform Tubi, giving audiences a chance to revisit the classic ahead of a new adaptation of Washington Irving's tale starring Sydney Sweeney. That forthcoming film, titled "Hollow" and based on a debut novel by writer-director Lindsey Anderson Beer, is currently in development and not expected until spring 2027, making Burton's version a timely watch for fans of the story in the meantime.

Burton's film stars Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane, a detective sent to investigate a series of beheadings in the town of Sleepy Hollow, alongside Christina Ricci as Katrina Van Tassel and Christopher Walken as the Headless Horseman. Burton, a former Disney animator, drew inspiration from the studio's 1949 adaptation "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad" and paid homage to Hammer Films' horror tradition by casting genre stalwarts Christopher Lee and Michael Gough. The upcoming Sweeney-led "Hollow" will reimagine the story as a love triangle involving Katrina Van Tassel, Brom Bones and Ichabod Crane, complicated by the murderous Headless Horseman.
