Reports that the sequel to Timothée Chalamet’s hit fantasy musical Wonka had been cancelled or indefinitely delayed have been denied by Warner Bros. The studio says the creative team is actively developing the next instalment, making the episode significant chiefly as a correction to speculation around one of its commercially successful recent films.

The confusion followed comments by Wonka writer Simon Farnaby, who said Chalamet wanted to make a sequel but was uncertain about timing and his next project; Farnaby later retracted those remarks online. The first Wonka, released in late 2023, grossed about $634 million worldwide, while Chalamet is also due to return as Paul Atreides in Dune: Part Three later this year.
