Tinashe announces new album ‘Popstar’ and shares defiant single ‘Crash Out’

NME · 1 day ago

Tinashe has announced her eighth studio album, "Popstar", and released a new single, "Crash Out", featuring a dance-heavy accompanying video. The release follows her seventh album, "Quantum Baby" (2024), which spawned the viral hit "Nasty" and marked her breakthrough on the Billboard Hot 100, making this a notable follow-up for an artist building on recent commercial momentum.

"Popstar" will be a 16-track record, arriving on 25 September via Nice Life and Atlantic Records, with pre-orders now open. "Crash Out", produced by Couros and directed by 91 Rules, follows lead single "Too Easy" as the second preview of the album. "Quantum Baby" had also included an early version of "No Broke Boys", later reworked into another viral track, and earned a BRIT Award nomination for International Song Of The Year. Tinashe is set to play Seattle's Capitol Hill Block Party next month before appearing at Maryland's All Things Go festival on 27 September, two days after the new album's release.
