Tinashe has announced her new album, Popstar, due for release on 25 September, alongside the surprise drop of a new single, "Crash Out". The announcement followed a viral clip of the singer smashing a car window with a sledgehammer in Los Angeles earlier in the week, which turned out to be a teaser for the song. The release marks her first full-length record since 2024's Quantum Baby and comes as the 33-year-old continues to build momentum following recent chart success.

"Crash Out" is the second single from the 16-track album, following the earlier release "Too Easy", and sees Tinashe addressing online critics over a woozy production. Popstar follows Quantum Baby, which debuted at number 199 on the Billboard 200, though Tinashe has since scored hits with 2024's "Nasty" (number 61 on the Hot 100) and 2025's "No Broke Boys" remix with Disco Lines, which reached number 39. She is set to perform new material from the album at the All Things Go festival in Maryland the same weekend it is released.

Tinashe is an American singer, songwriter and performer whose music blends pop, R&B and dance sounds. She first became widely known through the 2014 hit “2 On”, and has since released music both with major labels and independently.

Her recent work has brought renewed chart attention, including the 2024 single “Nasty”, which became popular online and in clubs. Albums are often released with several advance singles, helping artists introduce the sound and themes of a new record before its full release.

The new album is part of a busy period for Tinashe, with festival performances giving her another way to present new songs to audiences. Teaser videos and social-media clips are also commonly used in pop promotion to build interest around a release.
