Alaska State Troopers have arrested a Michigan man in connection with the disappearance of a man who vanished more than 30 years ago, after an anonymous tip-off traced back to him led investigators to reopen the long-dormant cold case. Christopher Popps, 54, was allegedly identified through a confession made anonymously, which police were able to trace back to him, ultimately resulting in murder charges being brought.

Investigators say Popps is accused of fatally shooting a former co-worker, with the case having remained unsolved for three decades before the tip broke it open. The arrest highlights how anonymous confessions can sometimes unravel cold cases many years after the original crime.
