Ben Affleck's 2010 crime drama The Town has resurfaced as a popular title on HBO Max, landing at sixth place on the platform's weekly domestic viewership chart according to FlixPatrol data. The film, directed by and starring Affleck, follows a Boston gang of bank robbers navigating one final job before a big score, and features a strong supporting cast including Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Hall, Blake Lively, Jon Hamm and Titus Welliver. Its renewed popularity comes as producer Basil Iwanyk recently discussed the film on The Town podcast, revealing that it required an extra marketing push, similar to the strategy later used for Denis Villeneuve's Sicario, to broaden its audience appeal.

The Town grossed more than $150 million worldwide against a reported $37 million budget upon release, while Sicario, which used a comparable action-focused marketing approach five years later, took $85 million against a $35 million budget. On the current HBO Max chart, The Town outperformed the romance film Materialists and the action-comedy Tag, while the top spot went to the action movie Normal, starring Bob Odenkirk.
