Today is reviewing its security procedures after a man entered an unauthorised area near Studio 1A at 30 Rockefeller Center and approached anchor Craig Melvin. The incident, which happened off-air, ended without injuries or an altercation, but has prompted an internal review while police investigate.

According to the NYPD, officers responded to reports of a disorderly person at about 9.19am ET and took a man into custody. Reports said he had asked for meteorologist Al Roker, then confronted Melvin while shouting a racial slur; Today said Melvin alerted security, which detained the individual before law enforcement arrived.
