Andrew Truelove jailed in separate case while NBC hate crime charges remain pending
Andrew Truelove, 41, was sentenced to six months in prison and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to violating probation in a criminal mischief case. The case is separate from allegations that he entered an NBC building and racially abused Today co-host Craig Melvin, for which Truelove remains in custody and faces hate crime charges.
Prosecutors allege Truelove entered restricted areas at Rockefeller Center by following an employee, looking for weather presenter Al Roker, then approached Melvin and used a racial slur. He is due back in court on 16 November over two hate crime counts, and on 9 October in a separate assault case, to which he has pleaded not guilty. NBC said nobody was injured and that it was reviewing its security procedures.
- Truelove received six months in prison for a separate probation violation.
- He remains in custody over allegations involving Craig Melvin.
- Hearings in two other cases are scheduled for October and November.
