Tokyo Gap Financing Market (TGFM), running alongside the TIFFCOM contents market in Tokyo from 28-30 October, has revealed a line-up of 24 feature film projects from Asia, Europe and the Americas for its latest edition. The market has also struck a new partnership with Canada's Frontières Market, the genre film co-production platform run by the Fantasia International Film Festival, marking Frontières' first showcase in Asia. The event gives filmmakers with projects still in the funding stage the chance to hold one-on-one meetings with industry figures to help secure development support and complete their budgets.

Five of the 24 projects have been selected jointly with Frontières, including Vietnamese director Diep Nguyen Hoang's The Saddest Stories On Earth and a body horror film from Brazil's Gabriela Amaral Almeida. Other notable entries include the Kyrgyz-legend-inspired horror The Land Of Jinn from Indonesia, Singaporean director Boo Junfeng's thriller Trinity, and an animation project from the team behind Annecy prizewinner The Violinist. All participating projects must have at least 60% of their budget secured and include an Asian element; for the first time, an open pitch event will be held on 28 October, with 10 of the 24 projects, including all five Frontières selections, presenting to industry attendees.
