New York Knicks player Karl-Anthony Towns and Chris Costa intervened to defuse the situation before it went further, and footage of the incident quickly went viral, reigniting speculation about whether the rivalry is genuine or a scripted publicity stunt.

The clip, shared by Fanatics with Brady, Paul, WWE and the NFL all tagged as collaborators, drew more than 17.5 million views on Instagram and 6.9 million on X. Paul claimed the altercation stemmed from him teasing Brady over a flag football defeat, calling it a "horrible example for the kids," while Brady dismissively branded him a "dork" and a "nerd" online. The pair's feud dates back to February, when Paul suggested his WWE career made him as athletic as NFL players, and continued through the Fanatics Flag Football Classic in March; suspicions of a staged rivalry were fuelled further by Brady's own admission, made the day before, that he hopes WWE will offer him a storyline to enter the ring.
