Tom Brady’s reported romance with Candice Swanepoel has allegedly caused a rift between Swanepoel and fellow Victoria’s Secret model Joan Smalls, who were said to have been close friends for 15 years. Reports say Smalls had dated Brady on and off for about a year and is now asking mutual friends to choose sides, though the claims have not been confirmed by the people involved.

Smalls allegedly posted since-deleted comments accusing Swanepoel of betraying her and criticising how the friendship ended. Swanepoel’s representative said she keeps her personal life private and will always respect their long friendship; representatives for all three did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Brady and Gisele Bündchen finalised their divorce in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage, and both models walked in the 2026 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
