Tom Cruise’s Box-Office Disaster Officially Removed From 3,100 Theaters
Tom Cruise’s political satire Digger is set to lose another 583 cinemas in its fourth week, leaving it in around 200 locations. The steep decline in screenings follows a weak opening and signals a major commercial failure for the film, which was promoted as a tribute to Cruise’s career and had an Oscar campaign planned.
Digger opened in more than 3,300 cinemas but earned just $8 million domestically against a reported budget of up to $180 million. It has grossed less than $50 million worldwide and has already lost 2,500 cinemas after two weeks; its total theatrical footprint will have fallen by about 3,100 since release. Reviews have been divided, and no PVOD release date has been announced.
In short
