Tom Hardy's 2015 film The Revenant has surged back into global popularity, now ranking as the third-most-watched movie on HBO Max worldwide, more than a decade after its cinema release. The renewed interest coincides with the actor's return to screens as Harry Da Souza in Guy Ritchie's crime drama MobLand, which begins its second season on 18 September, alongside stars Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and Paddy Considine.

In The Revenant, Hardy played villain John S. Fitzgerald opposite Leonardo DiCaprio's Hugh Glass, a role that finally won DiCaprio his first Best Actor Oscar. The film, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, also earned him the Best Director prize and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki the Best Cinematography award. Commercially, it grossed $530 million worldwide against a $135 million budget ($184 million domestic, $349 million overseas), making it the 13th highest-grossing film of 2015.
