Tom Hiddleston fronts *Pompeii: Out of Time*, a three-part Disney+ and Hulu docudrama that revisits the 79 CE eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The series aims to challenge the familiar portrayal of Pompeii solely as a place where everyone died, instead presenting new archaeological evidence and expert analysis that emphasise survival, resilience and the continuing evolution of historical understanding.

Released on 23 July 2026, the programme combines scripted reconstruction with interviews from archaeologists, historians, geologists and disaster specialists, and reunites Hiddleston with *Loki* executive producer Kevin R. Wright. It has a 92% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and was reportedly second worldwide on Disney+ streaming charts; for Hiddleston, the project is also personal, following his first visit to Pompeii aged 17 in 1998.
