Tom Holland’s planned Fred Astaire biopic has moved forward with Margaret Qualley cast as Astaire’s sister and early dance partner, Adele, and Sabrina Carpenter as Ginger Rogers. The film will explore two pivotal partnerships in Astaire’s long career, with Paul King directing and Astaire’s grandson, Tyler McKenzie, involved as consultant and co-producer.

Astaire’s career lasted 76 years, beginning in vaudeville before progressing to film and television; he became renowned for films including Top Hat, Swing Time and Holiday Inn. Carpenter’s role is expected to be her most prominent film part so far, while the untitled project remains in development without a release date.
