Tom Morello Launches New Album With “Date Night”

Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello has released his seventh solo album, Everyone Gets Everything They Want, on 25 September via Mom + Pop Music, marking his first solo record since 2021's The Atlas Underground Flood. The launch was accompanied by the track "Date Night", a ballad inspired by the true story of three Dutch teenagers who spied on, captured and killed Nazis during the Second World War, which Morello described as a deliberate "which side are you on?" statement aimed at anti-fascist listeners.
The twelve-track album follows the earlier single "Adjourn It", made with his son Roman Morello and Serj Tankian, and features additional contributions from Kneecap and Ohio rock band Beartooth. Morello has lined up a handful of shows to support the release, including US dates in Nashville, Louisville and Milwaukee in September, before headlining the inaugural Power to the People Festival in Washington, D.C. on 3 October alongside acts such as Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez, Public Enemy, Killer Mike and Brittany Howard. He will follow this with four Canadian tour dates in March 2027, running from Medicine Hat, Alberta, to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

Tom Morello is best known as the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine, the rock band famous for blending heavy riffs with political lyrics, as well as for his work with Audioslave and various side projects. Outside those bands, he has built a solo career under his own name and the alias "The Nightwatchman", often using music to comment on social and political causes.
Morello's albums typically bring together a mix of collaborators from different genres, and his songs frequently draw on real historical events or figures to make a wider point, in keeping with the activist stance he has held throughout his career.
