Explained simply

Tomb Raider is an action-adventure game series about Lara Croft, an explorer who searches for ancient places and artefacts while solving puzzles and facing dangers. The original game, released in 1996, introduced players to its mix of exploration, platforming and combat.

Legacy of Atlantis revisits that first adventure, whose settings include Peru, Greece, Egypt and the lost city of Atlantis. Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog are developing the remake. Its updated graphics and modernised gameplay sit alongside familiar puzzles, locations and enemies.

A separate Tomb Raider game, Catalyst, is also planned for 2027. Together, the releases continue the series for current platforms while drawing on its early history.
