Mars sued his former bandmates in 2023 after retiring from touring, alleging they were trying to reduce his share of the group’s profits and had sidelined him from decisions. Mötley Crüe disputed the claims, while Mars’s health condition, ankylosing spondylitis, has been central to the background of his departure from touring; the case remains unresolved.
