Norwegian-British duo TOMORA — made up of art-pop singer Aurora and The Chemical Brothers' Tom Rowlands — have spoken to NME about how their music is soundtracking UK television coverage of the 2026 World Cup. The interview coincided with a knock-out match on Saturday 11 July in which the pair's home nations, Aurora's Norway and Rowlands' England, were due to face each other, lending a friendly rivalry to the conversation.
Two tracks from the duo's acclaimed 2026 debut album 'Come Closer' are being used by broadcasters: the single 'Somewhere Else' features over the BBC's main tournament theme, while 'In A Minute' appears across ITV's promotional coverage. The duo said they were "delighted" to be involved, praising football's power to "unite people, like music", and sent "special love" to Ivory Coast fans unable to travel. On the match itself, Aurora backed Norway as an "underdog that you should fear", while Rowlands rated England's chances of reaching the final as "extremely high". The album is out now, with the duo on the festival circuit ahead of a UK and European headline tour in October.
