Big Hops, the 3D platformer starring a frog with a tongue that doubles as a grappling hook, is getting a major update called Big Hops Together, allowing the entire campaign to be played in eight-player co-op. Developer Luckshot Games describes it as a full rewrite of the game's systems, adding cooperative uses for the frog's tongue such as stealing items from a friend's backpack or tethering players together. The update matters because it moves Big Hops into the popular "friendslop" genre of streamer-friendly group co-op games, significantly expanding how the title can be played and shared.

The update is available now in beta, with a full release scheduled for 9th August, and story and collection progress will be shared across the co-op campaign. Luckshot's Chris Wade said the rewrite took four months of full-time work plus support from other team members, and cited a Mario Odyssey online multiplayer mod and a Mario 64 co-op mod as key inspirations, particularly for how they let players revisit familiar levels together and jump into maps without waiting for one another.
