The meeting attracted criticism from some commenters because of Blair’s association with the Iraq War, while highlighting his longstanding interest in fitness and his continuing political links with Indonesia.

Najamudin described the workout as relaxed and an opportunity for conversation. Blair has regularly exercised throughout his public life, including running for Sport Relief and famously playing head-tennis with Kevin Keegan; he has also advised Indonesia’s government and served on a committee connected to its planned new capital, Nusantara.
