Tony Iommi, the Black Sabbath guitarist, received a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) at Windsor Castle on Wednesday. The honour recognises his contribution to music and came on the same day he released a new solo single.

An MBE is the third-highest level of the Order of the British Empire and recognises outstanding achievement or service with sustained impact. Iommi shared a photograph of himself holding his badge at Windsor Castle; his upcoming solo album, *From the Dark*, is due out on 23 October.
