Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has discussed his upcoming solo album "From The Dark", due out on 23 October via BMG, in a new interview with Planet Rock's Loz Guest. It will be his first solo release in 21 years, featuring Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande on all lead vocals and writing credits, alongside bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil, and was co-produced by Iommi and his longtime collaborator Mike Exeter.

Iommi explained that the album came together without deadline pressure, as he worked on ideas at his own pace with Exeter in his home studio, often on Mondays and Tuesdays, having no record deal to meet. He revealed the title was drawn from one of Lande's lyrics, and described their songwriting process as a back-and-forth exchange of riffs and vocal ideas, with Lande frequently pushing to refine takes further. Iommi, who chose Lande partly due to his impressive performance at a 2010 Ronnie James Dio tribute show, said he remains driven to write riffs after five decades in music, calling it something that is "in my blood". He also said live shows in support of the album remain a possibility, though nothing is currently planned.
