TONY IOMMI On Making Of His New Solo Album ‘From The Dark’: ‘It Was All Very Casual’

Blabbermouth ·

Tony Iommi says his new solo album, *From The Dark*, took shape gradually and without the deadlines he faced while making Black Sabbath records. The 21-year gap since his previous solo album and the relaxed process gave him time to develop and revisit musical ideas.

The album arrives on 23 October via BMG, with Jorn Lande sharing writing credits on every song and contributing lyrics and vocals. Iommi wrote the music, working with Lande to refine the arrangements; Becky Baldwin plays bass and Karl Brazil drums. The project began as an instrumental album before Iommi decided to write songs for a vocalist, and it was co-produced with longtime collaborator Mike Exeter.
