Tony Shalhoub’s daughter reveals why ‘Monk’ star deliberately avoided Hollywood spotlight

Tony Shalhoub’s daughter Josie says the actor deliberately kept his family out of Hollywood’s glare, preferring privacy and a clear boundary between work and home life. She says he avoided public relations and tabloid attention despite being well known, and that approach shaped their family life.

Shalhoub, 73, and his wife, actress Brooke Adams, 77, adopted two daughters, Josie and Sophie. Josie and her father have written a book about the family’s annual summer reunions in Wisconsin, which can bring together more than 50 relatives and take effort to navigate. The memoir includes family recipes and, Josie says, is not a tell-all about Hollywood secrets.
