Tool’s Maynard James Keenan Announces New Sushi Restaurant

Stereogum · 2 hours ago

Maynard James Keenan, best known as the frontman of Tool, is expanding his growing hospitality empire in Arizona's Verde Valley with the launch of a sushi restaurant. Queen B Sushi will open on 4 September at 816 N. Main St. in Old Town Cottonwood, adding to Keenan's existing ventures in the area, which include a winery and the Queen B Vinyl Café, a combined record shop, hair salon, café and coffee roaster he runs with his wife, Jennifer.

Keenan says his love of sushi dates back to 1987 in Boston, deepened during a 2000 Japan tour with A Perfect Circle, and has stayed with him ever since via a pair of travel chopsticks he still carries. The restaurant's kitchen is led by Culinary Director Chef Brett Vibber, formerly of Roka Akor, alongside Chef Chuhiro "Thomas" Kato, who trained under Nobu Matsuhisa and Masaharu Morimoto, and Arizona-native Chef Sheridan "Sher" Chase. Reservations are already open.
