The Conservatives have proposed deporting every foreign national convicted of an offence more serious than a parking ticket after they complete their prison sentence. The party says the policy would prioritise public safety and increase annual deportations from about 6,000 to 40,000, while also preventing deported offenders from claiming asylum.

The plans would require Britain to leave the European Convention on Human Rights and repeal or replace parts of the Human Rights Act and modern slavery laws. They include removing citizenship from dual nationals convicted of crimes, imposing sanctions on countries that refuse to accept deportees, and expanding routine immigration checks; the Conservatives also say 20,000 people eligible for deportation under current rules remain in Britain.
