Two German tourists were arrested at the Louvre after allegedly attaching two paintings beside the Mona Lisa with cellotape. The Mona Lisa was not damaged, but police accused the pair of damaging the walls of the Salle des États; they reportedly said they had done it for fun.

The paintings measured approximately 11.8 and 15.7 inches and appeared to depict the suspects, including one wearing armour. The incident occurred amid heightened scrutiny following last year’s €88 million jewellery theft from the Louvre, while a separate €9 million art theft recently affected the Musée Renoir.
