Toy Story 5 Limited-Edition 4K Steelbook Sells Out Immediately

IGN · 5 hours ago

Toy Story 5's limited-edition 4K steelbook Blu-ray has sold out at retailers such as Amazon and Walmart within hours of preorders opening, disappointing collectors. Standard Blu-ray and DVD editions remain available for preorder ahead of the 22 September release, and there is a small chance the steelbook could be restocked before then, though it may otherwise resurface on resale sites like eBay at inflated prices.

The steelbook's popularity is attributed to its watercolour-style artwork featuring the original Toy Story trio alongside new characters, plus a nod on the reverse to the tire-swing tree from Toy Story 2. Notably, no standard 4K UHD release appears to exist separately, meaning the steelbook was the only way to buy the film in that format. Toy Story 5 grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide following its June cinema release, has just arrived on digital, and is expected on Disney+ by the end of September; a rumoured five-film Toy Story boxset has yet to appear for preorder.

  • Toy Story 5's limited 4K steelbook sold out immediately after preorders opened.
  • Standard Blu-ray and DVD remain available, releasing 22 September.
  • No separate standard 4K UHD edition exists outside the steelbook.
