Teenage student dies after falling from fourth floor at Los Angeles school
A teenage student at Benjamin Franklin High School in Los Angeles died on Wednesday after falling from the fourth floor of a campus building moments after being involved in a classroom fight. The incident occurred around 1pm whilst students were leaving for lunch, and police have confirmed that no foul play was involved.
Video footage showed two students fighting inside a classroom whilst a teacher attempted to break up the conflict. One student was knocked to the floor, fled the classroom and subsequently fell over the fourth-floor railing. Authorities placed the school on lockdown and parents waited until 4pm before students were released. The school has since offered mental health support and counselling for affected students and staff members.
