Tragic end to search for missing tourist as police divers find his body at popular Outback waterfalls

Daily Mail · 47 minutes ago

Police divers have recovered the body of a 61-year-old man who went missing while visiting Edith Falls in Nitmiluk National Park, in Australia's Northern Territory. Dominic O'Connell had been at the popular Outback waterfalls with his wife when he disappeared, triggering a search by police and park rangers before his body was located the following morning.

O'Connell and his wife were at the site, roughly 244km south-east of Darwin, on Sunday afternoon, and he was last seen between 1pm and 3pm near the lower plunge pool. Divers found his body during a search of that pool on Monday morning. His family has been informed and police say they are supporting his wife; the death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
