PlayStation publisher GungHo has released a surprise patch for Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter on PS5, addressing long-standing complaints about the game's English localisation. The remake had used more literal translations for terms already established in other games in the long-running Trails series, creating inconsistencies that annoyed dedicated fans; the update brings the terminology back in line ahead of the release of Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter.

Patch 1.07 is a modest 164MB download that revises numerous names and terms in the English script, such as changing "orbal golems" back to "archaisms" to match usage in later titles like Trails Beyond the Horizon. According to GungHo's official blog post, the goal was to align major terminology with the rest of the series while preserving elements unique to the Sky games, so character names and terms exclusive to 1st Chapter were largely left untouched.
