Barcelona have signed Germany winger Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund on a contract until 2031, in a deal worth around €22m (£19m) plus add-ons, as Newcastle United close in on a £34m move for Monaco midfielder Aladji Bamba. The signings continue a busy summer window for both clubs, with Adeyemi becoming Barcelona's second attacking addition after Anthony Gordon, while Bamba is set to be Newcastle's fourth signing aged 20 or under this close season.

Adeyemi, 24, joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022 and scored 36 goals in 146 appearances, and will now be reunited with head coach Hansi Flick, who gave him his Germany debut. Bamba, 20, flew to Tyneside on Thursday and is viewed as a like-for-like replacement for Sandro Tonali, who left Newcastle for Tottenham in a £92.5m deal, fitting the club's new policy of signing players 24 or under for £20m-£40m with high resale value amid Uefa financial oversight. Separately, Newcastle are still hoping to fend off Arsenal's interest in captain Bruno Guimarães, with Arsenal yet to make a formal offer and Newcastle unlikely to accept anything under roughly £75m.
