Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has revealed he advised his son, singer Landon Barker, to turn down an offer to appear on The Voice, telling him he was "too cool" for the talent show. Speaking on The New York Times' Popcast, Barker said he encouraged Landon to think about his musical idols, such as Kurt Cobain, and stay true to his own artistic path rather than pursue mainstream television exposure.

Barker noted the distinction with his own past appearances on American Idol, saying his role as a drummer kept him out of the spotlight in a way that differs from Landon fronting as a singer. He also used the Popcast interview to confirm Blink-182 are working on a new album this year, their first since 2023's 'One More Time…'. Barker's new documentary, Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear, is due on Hulu and Disney+ on 13 August, and Landon has previously said he values his father's blunt, honest feedback on his music.
