Heavy rain and landslides have killed about 30 people in Nepal, where communities are still recovering from August’s catastrophic floods, which killed 1,400 and left thousands missing. The latest damage has affected more than 1,900 families, damaged over 240 homes and swept away roads, buildings and bridges.

Hundreds of trekkers on the Annapurna Circuit have cut short their hikes or been evacuated by helicopter, while about 700 remain unable to start the route from Pokhara. Some trekkers and guides have spent days crossing landslides and damaged paths; a landslide near Chame has also blocked a river and flooded homes and a bridge. Separately, four bodies have been recovered and 12 people remain missing after an avalanche near Himlung Peak.
