Jos Buttler says technical advice from England batting coach Marcus Trescothick helped restore his confidence and form, contributing to him becoming T20 cricket’s all-time leading run-scorer. The England wicketkeeper passed Kieron Pollard’s previous record while making 51 from 20 balls for Manchester Super Giants, continuing a run of strong scores after a poor T20 World Cup.

Buttler has scored 14,833 T20 runs in 492 innings and has made three scores above 50 in his past four matches, including 131 against India last month. He is second in this season’s Hundred run-scoring table with 277 runs and has hit 20 sixes; Trescothick will meanwhile lead England’s Test side on an interim basis against Pakistan.
