A 22-year-old man from Auburndale, Florida, crashed his pickup truck into a highway barrier after becoming distracted while applying deodorant behind the wheel. The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver was navigating a curve on State Road 570 in Polk County when he lost control, hit an anti-crash device and ended up on top of a concrete barrier wall, though he escaped without injury. The incident has drawn attention as a striking example of distracted driving, with police confirming even the mundane detail of a stick, rather than spray, deodorant at the scene.

The crash occurred around 7am on Monday near milepost 14 while the man was heading west in a GMC Sierra. Authorities have not released his identity or confirmed whether he faces any citations. Florida records a crash roughly every 44 seconds, with one in seven involving a distracted driver, and state data shows drivers in their 20s are disproportionately affected, accounting for more than a quarter of such incidents.
