Donald Trump and Fifa president Gianni Infantino were booed by spectators at the World Cup final trophy ceremony, held at the New York New Jersey stadium on Sunday. The reaction unfolded after Spain beat defending champions Argentina 1-0 to win the tournament, with jeers ringing out as the two men walked onto the pitch for the presentation.
After handing Spain the trophy, Trump tried to join the players' celebrations at the side of the podium before Infantino discreetly steered him away. This echoed a similar incident at last summer's Club World Cup final at the same venue, when Trump presented the trophy to Chelsea and attempted to join their celebrations, to the players' apparent confusion.
