Two Trump-endorsed Republican Senate candidates—Mike Rogers in Michigan and Ashley Hinson in Iowa—have called for an end to the war in Iran as they battle close races ahead of November elections. They have framed their anti-war stance as a cost-of-living issue, arguing that ending the conflict would lower energy and grocery prices for families. This comes as analysts suggest that Democrats could regain control of both the Senate and House if they secure key swing states, making these competitive races particularly significant.

Rogers currently trails his Democratic opponent Abdul El-Sayed by 2.1 percentage points, whilst Hinson leads Democrat Josh Turek by only 1.3 points, according to RealClearPolitics. Both Democrats have accused their Republican opponents of hypocrisy; El-Sayed called Rogers a "liar, coward, fraud" for claiming to oppose the war after supporting it throughout his campaign, whilst Turek noted that Hinson voted seven times to continue the war, including as recently as last week. Polling shows Americans broadly oppose the conflict, with 49 per cent of voters believing Trump was wrong to launch military action in Iran and only 25 per cent believing the US is winning the war. Forty-two per cent of voters hold Trump most responsible for the ongoing conflict, compared to just 17 per cent who blame the Iranian government.
