The Trump administration has launched Gold Eagle, a new AI-driven cybersecurity clearinghouse designed to speed up the discovery and patching of software vulnerabilities before hackers can exploit them. The initiative responds to a growing concern in the security industry: AI tools can now find software flaws far faster than traditional methods, which is useful for defenders but equally usable by attackers, creating a race to patch weaknesses before they are exploited.

The White House says Gold Eagle has already begun receiving and prioritising vulnerability reports, and will act as a central link between federal agencies, private companies, critical infrastructure operators and open-source software teams. Its stated aim is to surface serious flaws more quickly and streamline the traditionally slow process of confirming and fixing them. The announcement follows wider industry unease, including Anthropic restricting public access to its Mythos AI model after it showed an unexpected ability to autonomously find software vulnerabilities, instead offering early access to major companies and the US government for defensive cybersecurity purposes.
